WeeCap: May 14th and 15th

A busy weekend in which Gracey goes to a track meet, visits a flower garden and goes on a date.

Sadly I only have pictures of the track meet outfit and the flower garden, but the date was just a brunch date and wasn't anything stellar (The outfit, I mean.  The date was fantastic).

Saturday, May 14th

Today I went to the track of a local college (Willamette University) to watch two of my nephews run 4 x 100 relays:

They both did extremely well with Dominic's team coming in first and Damian's coming in third.  I was definitely the proud auntie.  To watch them I wore my Real Straight jeans (GAP), a white tee (Target), olive jacket (Old Navy), leopard scarf (???) and gold flats (Kenneth Cole Reaction).

The Willamette University track is located practically in a park called Bush Park.  I walked through Bush Park on my way back to my car which I had parked at historic Deepwood Estates.  It was a lovely walk and because I didn't get a photo of my brunch date outfit from Sunday, I'll share some photos of the park and gardens with you all.

I hope everyone had an absolutely lovely weekend!

Berlino

Picture heavy post of some snapshots from the Easter weekend spent in Berlin. Fantastic city though I believe we chose the quietest weekend to go. I'm such a boring packer for weekend trips. Sorry for the heavy repeat of items. Mostly wearing stuff from COS, Uniqlo, Cheap Monday, scarf from Paris, Cesare Paciotti brogues, LV bag.

This is seriously the best dress I own. It doubles as a skirt and is perfect for traveling. Worn with converses, heels, or somewhere in between, it costs next to nothing (as most Cheap Monday things do), and works into any evening/day wear. Perfection.

Creamsicle

Daily Outfit for Friday, May 13, 2011

I love creamsicles.  They’re one of my favorite treats.  And, yes, I know that doesn’t mean I have to dress like one, but I think we should all just be thankful I didn’t decide to dress like wasabi-crusted tuna tartar.  Which I also love.  So, yes, today I’m dressed like a creamsicle and not tuna:

When I first thrifted this skirt I thought it might be too formal, but then I thought formal-schmormal, I may not wear sequins to work, but I can wear this skirt.  I paired it with a lovely coral orange sweater (Target), which is the twin to this lovely aqua sweater.  I don’t usually buy items in multiples, but I really like these sweaters – I think the colors are so pretty.  I also wore some T-strap wedges (Franco Sarto via Nordstrom) and I have to say that I’m not loving them with this outfit.  I think my platform sandals from yesterday would have probably been the better choice.

A choice I am loving?  This turquoise-beaded bracelet (vintage from Ray’s Ragtime in Portland):

I love this bracelet with the orange and cream, but I'm starting to think this bracelet might just go with everything.  I'll wear it more often and we can all decide if I'm right or not.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.  It’s supposed to rain here (surprise, surprise) so I imagine mine will be very low-key.  Some minor thrifting and whatnot.  How about you all?  Anyone with big plans?
Happy Friday, All!

Sheer Plaid-ness

Daily Outfit for Thursday, May 12, 2011

Sorry about the lack of a post the past couple of days.  On Wednesday I entered day 3 of a migraine and was forced to throw in the towel and stay home.  And yesterday Blogger decided to be down all damn day.  But, I’m feeling better and Blogger is feeling better and today we’re back with bad puns for everyone.  You’re welcome.

For my triumphant (just nod and smile) return to work I paired my semi-sheer plaid shirt (Old Navy) with my “regular” length Flirt skinny jeans (Old Navy), a pair of  platform sandals (Target) and pink drop earrings (Alberta Street vendor).  I feel like I should be going digging for claims (yes, in heels) instead of to work, but some days I just don’t feel like trying.  Today was one of those days.

Also, I really don’t have much to say, in spite of my absence.  I mean, I found out that platform sandals are hard to ride a bike in but rather comfortable to wear around, so that’s something.  And Oregon weather continues to be weird – I guess both May and June are supposed to be “wetter and colder than usual.”  I’m not really looking forward to that, but at least I’m no longer forced to wear tights.  And it’s Friday, so that’s pretty fabulous.

Happy Friday, Everyone!

Mossy Blossoms

Daily Outfit for Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Today is the day everybody, everywhere is wearing florals for Everybody, Everywear.  And I have been saving this vintage dress just for today:

I love the shape of this dress, but I really love the fact that it’s not your standard colors for a floral dress.  I think the browns, golds, greys and greens with the splashes of periwinkle, pink and fuchsia are very unique and interesting.  And the sort of painterly quality of the flowers is pretty cool too.  I paired the dress (handmade, vintage) with neutral flats (Kenneth Cole Reaction) and a bright pink belt (INC via Macys).  The dress has a self-belt, but I wanted to pick up a little of the color in the dress and I think this belt does it nicely.

It may not be the most spring-y dress, but I think that’ll help make it versatile enough to wear throughout the year.  I can’t wait to remix it.

To see what everyone else is wearing everywhere else, head on over to Everybody, Everywear and take a peek!

She Wore a Raspberry Beret

And I wore a raspberry scarf:

I wanted to wear something simple today; I didn’t have the fortitude for anything more complicated.  I went with a striped tee (Jones New York via Ross), black jeggings (GAP Generation), black mini-wedges (Jessica Simpson via Nordstrom) and, because I have to have some sort of color, a raspberry scarf and belt.  If you’ve seen my pictures from prom, you know that I love me a deep pink.  I think it looks better on my skin than a soft, baby pink.

In truth, I’m not much of a pastel wearer.  I do own some pastel pieces, but I’m definitely more drawn to brighter or deeper shades (or is it hues?).  How about you all – what are your feelings on pastels?

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a happy Monday!

P.S. My sister took my pictures today and we tried our hand at a jumping photo.  She cut off my head:
