house of genius

(Jill Sander for Uniqlo jeans (so cheap, a steal really), Michael Kors booties, Ralph Lauren button up shirt, Theory elbow patch blazer, Danier (love my Canadian brands!) gloves, and a beautiful Alviero Martini silk scarf given to me by Mass' mom for my 25th birthday)

Lately I've been spending all my time in the library. I typically go to the British Library because it houses every publication ever published in the UK; research-wise, its beyond perfection. In addition to being the most sought-out exclusive library I've ever belonged to (no food, water, bags, coats, highlighters, pens, allowed), it houses another kind of genius: the intellectual fashionista.

I've always preferred French to Italian (Mass is going to kill me) street style because I felt the French (Parisians especially) have this thrown together, Je ne sais quoi, look. But it looks so damn good. I see a lot of that in the passer bys that come into the Brit Lib. The other day, I saw the most rugged, handsome briefcase on the most whacked out guy. He had this briefcase made out of very raw leather and a stick for the handle. His friend saw a kid on the street making one in Mozambique for 30p. It was goregous (yes I asked him, but sadly no I didn't take a pic :( )

Anyway, I definitely dress for myself and not for the people around me; I was heading to the library in the above pics.

Nico

In my honest opinion, sundays are lazy. Sundays are the exception to the week where you get to dress comfortably (do not mix this up with poorly) yet feel great. On this particularly lazy past Sunday, I, true to form, dressed accordingly. Mass, however, spends his week in suits, therefore sees the weekend as his outlet, no exception to the Sunday. (Trust me, this can be a bad thing when the guy you're walking down the street with is dressed to the nine and you're in a poufy winter jacket with your hair thrown up into a beanie hat) Since I wasn't great yesterday, I took some equally not so great pics of him. I love an Italian man dressed up (or down, or not at all ;) kidding! - my sis reads this too).

In the above pics, Mass is wearing a H&M velvet purple sport jacket, a zara hat, a scarf and boots (love them) from his hometown in Italy, and the rest Nico Di Donna. Nico is Mass' primary source for non-office wear. He's an Italian boutique designer in Soho, London. He's one of a kind, to say the least. Recently, he expanded his women's line. Below, I am wearing one of his designs. I don't have a full or back pic for you to see the suit in it's entirety, but it's pretty damn cool. The back is a drooped U shape and the crotch (excuse my French) drops down to the knee. I'm wearing it one way, but there are 5 different methods to wear it. Check out Nico's site for these options.

(also wearing necklace from Spitalfields market in London, and Topshop London half gloves)

I have cases to prep for, so I should really be going now. Hope you had a belissima weekend.

Ciao, from London.

BF finds

One of the amazing things about living with your bf who loves to dress up as much as you do (i swear he's straight) is the luxury of having an extra closet to choose from. I'm lucky that Mass isn't possessive of his items because I do tend to wear them a lot; they somehow manage to move into my closet space on their own! I wear everything from hats, to scarves, to sweaters. Today I decided to wear one of his watches. It's a Chalet Fiat watch given to him for xmas from his bro & wife, and sis. It's oversized, and I love it.

The middle finger ring I'm wearing is definitely not his old pinky ring that I found, but rather a gift from him last week from Milan. It's the Mont Blanc Profile Wish Ring . The second ring is an old old Tiffany's Mesh ring that I should really get rid of (its from an ex bf) but I love the ring itself and have no sentiments towards where it came from, therefore I should be able to keep it right? Verdicts?!
