Cold Weather = Strange Poses

Daily Outfit, 2/9/11

So, apparently I was completely wrong about the weather.  It hasn't rained since Monday.  The good news is that I'm a personal style blogger, not a weather blogger.  I think (and yes, I'm just guessing here) that it's actually been too cold to rain.  It has been freezing the past couple of days - hence the strange poses above.

Because it was so cold, I did a lot of layering today, including layering my tights.  Today was the first time I've tried it and it definitely helped keep me warm.  I layered my bright blue footless tights (Nordstrom) over some black tights (origin unknown).  And I layered the cardigan (Calvin Klein via Ideeli, also worn last Sunday, unbelted) over a brightly printed dress (Suzi Chin for Maggie Boutique via Ideeli) which in turn was layered over a slip and camisole.  I love this dress because it lends itself to being paired with pretty much any color of tights.

I topped it all off with a bright red scarf (Macys), black suede slouch boots (Naught Monkey via Nordstrom) and multi-colored earrings (Target).  The belt is not-quite-leather and is from Target.

Today's outfit is also my red for the week.  If you remember, I will be wearing red at least once a week during the month, as part of Andie's campaign, to help raise awareness of heart disease in women.

As I mentioned before, this is the first time I've tried layering tights.  I was worried it was be all binding and uncomfortable but they weren't any more uncomfortable than a single pair of tights.  And in addition to keeping me warm, wearing the black under the blue toned the blue down to a blue closer to that of my cardigan.  Have you guys tried layering tights yet?  Is this something you've been doing for years and I'm just really slow?  If so, do you have any tips and tricks to get me up to speed?
