Montreal Summer

DSC_0289

At the height of Montreal summer, Mass and I took out first stroll around the city stopping at usual tourist attractions i.e. Old town and eating at overpriced restaurants. He did, however, find the best Casa del Habano where you can still smoke indoors. I'll let him get into the finer details on his blog (when and if he ever posts again, heh).

Think I've mentioned previously that Mass is a self proclaimed caffeine addict / expert. Tim Hortons receives his seal of approval (he promises it's not only to satisfy my Canadian heritage *rolls eyes*).

After our little tour, we headed to my Uncle's house for a big family BBQ on the eve of my cousin's wedding. I literally become a little kid when I'm with my family and argue endlessly over word semantics in Scattergories (which is the best game, ever). Mass was a bit scared. The entire day required a semi-breathable outfit as it was reaching 30's in the city. Wore an Artizia tank, some palazzo pants from mom that are probably older than I am, Kenneth Jay Lane earrings, Tom Ford sunnies and Giuseppe Zanotti flats.

Off to enjoy the English summer which finally decided to make an appearance yesterday and hopefully for the rest of this week!

Steph's Bridal Shower

DSC_0267

My cousin, Steph, was a terribly good sport with everything we put her through over the weekend. From wearing bustiers to stuffing marshmallows, she was the most willing bride I've ever seen!

DSC_0271

Steph and my sister, wearing Zara shoes that I have in blue! She was a trooper and wore them out to a club for their first outing. I barely could walk after 1/2 an hour in mine. They're definitely not the most comfortable but for £29.99, completely worth the value.

Homemade spread (including the cake pops!) by the MOHs. I'm not a baker, but I sure was impressed.

Surprisingly, a lot of fun at a burlesque class in Montreal. More to come from Montreal tomorrow.

Better times...

@ Yauatcha

Literally floundering in exams right now so not much time to update. Reminding myself of less stressful times: a fantastic day with good food and even better company.

Be back soon!

Brian May anyone?

DSC_1373

Mass always looks rather creepish at celebrity sightings :P

Went to the Queen book launch last week as my first outing since the flu. I made it through parts of the evening, but not without a photo with Brian May (sorta). Queen has been playing in my flat for the past week.

Royal Ascot

fascinator from Selfridges, old Aritizia blazer, Opening Ceremony dress

Every year the Queen hosts a horse raising competition at Ascot. Royal Ascot is attended by thousands of people over the course of six days, including the Queen everyday. Traditionally it was a very upscale event where only morning suits were allowed and females must wear day dresses below their knees, their shoulders must be covered and they must wear a hat or a fascinator. Today, it is really just an excuse to drink champers on the train there and to get inebriated by midday.

Of course there are still the poshier areas, like the Royal Enclosures, where the same dress and manner restrictions apply but in the 'commoner' areas, like the Silver Ring, attendees are normally drunk by 3pm.

Since I moved to London, I had never attended this very British event. This year a group of friends were heading there and I decided to tag along. It was exactly as I pictured, only muddier. A good check of the box to say the least.

Happy Chinese New Year! It's the year of rabbit this year. My mom is quite superstitious and an avid follower of Chinese traditions so her advice would be to stay away from hair washing on this day as it washes away your good luck. I don't see any harm in not following it, so why not.

Anyway, took the above shots in chinatown this past weekend after a dim sum session. I don't know why, but every chinatown in every city always smells the same. Either way, the food always tastes delicious. I swear I could eat Chinese food everyday all day (but I think Mass would have a heart attack).

I am IN LOVE with the leather pants above. Bought on sale from tried and tested leather goods store in Canada: Danier for CAD $99! It was such a good deal I bought two pairs, one in black and another in brown (though above is brown and you can barely tell the difference). In addition, the Rolex was given to me by my mom for Christmas and graduation. She bought it back in the early 80's and I love it; I love everything about it, from the sentiment to the mechanics.

Wishing you a healthy, successful, and prosperous new year.

GIAMBATTISTA VALLI dress, KURT GEIGER shoes, WOLFORD tights, BCBG necklaces, VINTAGE ROLEX watch

Back from my week long hiatus induced solely by a crappy internet connection at home. Anyway, I wore this dress to ring in 2011. I absolutely LOVE the balloon sleeves and I will definitely be wearing this again to show in more detail later. The designer is the unbelievable Italian artist Giambattista Valli, whom I love for his wedding designs especially. I got this dress at Holt Renfrew Last Call for only $268! What an absolute steal. It went down from an original retail price of $3000! It's actually supposed to be a shirt but at size 8 it fits me like a dress.

We went to a cheesy Italian restaurant in Toronto, Sotto Sotto, for dinner with the family and then off to a party with some friends. Don't my sister and I look alike?

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

THEORY blazer, random white shirt, EBAY tulle, CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN shoes, WOLFORD tights, PRADA gloves, VINTAGE ring gifted from my sister

Last week I had my masters convocation. I attended my undergraduate convo, but skipped my law degree one, so this one was a celebration of both my LLB and LLM.

I bought the three layer tulle online after my unsuccessful attempt at online Lanvin & HM shopping. Personally, I think I like it better, but then again a girl can never have too many tulles.

I've never received a pen before and on my graduation day, I received two! I think it is the perfect graduation gift, especially for my future career. The Mont Blanc one was given to me by my father, it has a diamond on the top! I better use the ink wisely, I don't think I can afford the refills.

Happy Monday!
