Shoe shelves

For those of you not living in GB, this weekend marks the 60th anniversary of the Queen's throne. The practical effect of this monumental occasion is the country gets two additional days off to their weekend. Many people have left London for sunnier pastures but the people who remain will be partying (in the rain) all weekend to Pimms, festivals of all kind including food and music and the Union Jack. For the rest of us...it is the MOST depressing time of the year. Penultimate weekend of the potential last exams ever in our lives, we have 3 more to write in this neverending love affair with becoming a lawyer. When I'm not at the library, I'm at home...waiting for the opportunity to wear these again...

I actually don't have many pairs of shoes (as I thought I did), so we used the shelf as a pseudo book case as well.

I had a lot of stuff I didn't want to put on display but needed a place for, i.e. flip flops / guest slippers / belts etc. so I used my favourite British brand to store them. They make the best picnic baskets ever and lucky for us, they sell these baskets separately too. We used a mixture of both their champagne cases (the Tiffany blue ones) for our hats and scarves and the baskets for other odd bits and ends. We even use their biggest baskets for our laundry.

So...that's it! What do you think?

iPhone clippet from TO

As my resident photographer, aka Mass, he's not obliged to follow me around everywhere :P Therefore, one must find alternative methods to capturing their blog photos. Bring on...the mirror. I was in Toronto this time around on my own as Mass has been ridiculously busy with work (I barely have had more then 2 dinners with him in the last month!) so I made do at my parents place.

Quick shot of the hair! I think it's TO water, but my hair always has more volume there. If it looked like this 24/7, I wouldn't have gotten a perm yesterday! (photos to follow...)

Wearing heels is always so much easier at home. In / out of cars, no walking to tubes, then walking to a bus, then hopping in a cab because your feet hurt too much. I also wore these amazingly stylish pants that were my mom's in the 70's! My mom had a serious walk down memory lane when she saw me in them. She proceeded to find about a dozen other outfits for me in a matching silk blazer and shorts / skirts / trousers. Ahhhh the 70's. Paired with an Equipment silk shirt, Helmut Lang blazer, Kurt Geiger pumps, BCBG necklace

Long weekend here in the UK! Hope everyone's enjoying it. I'll be prepping the house / finishing up work in anticipation for my bf to come next week. What are you up to?

Furniture Shopping in London

Insta-Mondays is on hold at the moment to share with you some photos from our ongoing renovation. Our flat has undergone major remodeling since mid February starting with our bedroom. We customised fitted wardrobes and shelves in our loft in an attempt to condense four wardrobes into a huge one. It has, more or less, worked but final touches are still waiting to be put on.

We have ditched a lot of our old furniture and donated heaps of clothes to charity. During the process, we discovered auctioning. In London there seems to be a few auction houses but the one we have really taken a fancy to was Lots Road. If you're looking for a great bargain then you should definitely give this a try. Lots Road is hidden amongst many furniture shops in Fulham but at a fraction of the price. These prices sometimes even beat out Ikea!

These are some of the new additions we've added to our collection.

My new vanity desk and a blurry view of two armchairs we also won from a Lots Road auction.

A new coffee table we got from a new cafe / furniture shop down the road from our flat, Pitfield London. I believe its Italian from the 1970's.

Hopefully we can show you some semi-decent photos of our refurbished flat soon!

BARON Y skirt (posted here), H&M shirt, FENTON necklace, GUCCI shoes

Sincere apologies for neglecting this blog for the past week or so; got caught up with real life! It's not to say that I didn't keep you in mind, I took plenty of pics along the way.

The first night I got back I surprised everyone and myself by staying up past 11pm (4am GMT). One of my most favourite things to do (in life) is get ppl together. I think a nice Chinese dinner always suits perfectly since it comes in a round table form. Post dinner came the soju at Yonge & Finch (secondary K-town in TO) and though I'm not a great drinker, I still had myself a great time. It was probably the company.

Took the occasion to wear my new skirt from Paris and I am still in love with it. It has so much volume without a tulle! These Guccis also made a debut because they were neglected and left at my parents place for the past 8 months. They're happily in London now.

Now that I'm back from hiatus, more to come...I promise. Thanks for the msges/emails! I truly appreciate your concern and feedback.

I'm wearing: Stefanel sweater, Woo scarves from Shanghai, Uniqlo jeans, Asos shirt, Prada shoes, Banana Republic purple ring, Lion ring and Puma bracelet from Shanghai, Kenneth Jay Lane snake ring

Mass' wearing: Nico DiDonna pants/shirt/blazer, Woo scarf from Shanghai, Pocket square from Italy, Lardini shoes, Persol glasses

Living in London provides full rights to complain about the weather, which so far, has been crap. Summer officially starts today and we've been living in November fall for the past two months. Remember that Stefanel sweater? I had to throw my trenchcoat overtop to go out that evening. I know this girl who left London and moved to Dubai because she hated the weather. I thought she was crazy. Now, not so much.

These pics were from a relatively tame Saturday. Maybe because we were conserving energy for the Italy game (which turned out to be a draw) on Sunday. Quick photos were taken on the steps of the front of our building. Did I mention my love for high ceilings? It adds instant openness to any space.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Let's reconvene with some more interesting photos in a few.

Ciao!

MADE IN ITALY PART II

While in Italy we stayed in Fabriano for a few days, then went to Perugia for a day, then to Chianti Tuscany for another two days. When we got back to London, I soon realised that too much salami, wine, ham, cheese, and heavy Italian food altogether makes Lisa break out :( I guess next time it'll be in moderation.

Ciao baci

PS. the wifi here at the lib sucks therefore additional pics will be posted when i'm at home.
