Topshop Dress

S0480994 S0460991

This is, by far, my favourite dress this summer. I originally went into Topshop wanting to buy the neon green version but it was sold out in my size so I opted for the alternative neon pink. It has been scorching hot this summer in some parts of the world (obvi not London) and this bad boy has proved worthy of the heat, especially if you're like me and hate your clothes sticking to your body when you sweat. Yum. I tried to find it online for you but it seems to be sold out. When I went home to Toronto though, in June, I found tons of them at the Topshop in Yorkdale. Fingers crossed its now on sale! Although at a RRP of £40 it's not too shabby.

These photos were taken on another wedding planning trip in Florence. We were on our way to dinner and stopped by the Duomo to take some pics. We're trying to test out as many good eats as we can so hopefully our guests will have lots to choose from during their stay!

S0410986

Paired this dress with some Isabel Marant shoes (bought on sale for 70% off! Bargain hunter strikes again!), a Balenciaga bag, and various bits of gold jewellery.

As an aside, how's everyone enjoying the Olympics? I'm heading there today for my first event: diving. I have 3 in total and hope to see Usain Bolt in action! Admittedly, it is quite cool having the games on in the city you're living in.

iPhone Snapped

I'm in Toronto! Got here last week and it has been a whirlwind of events ever since. I'm here to attend several bridal events (for my beautiful cousin and gf) and a wedding. It has been ridiculously hot the last couple days with temps hitting 43 degrees with humidity! Welcome change to London.

photo

It was my baby sister's convocation a couple days ago and we all couldn't be more proud. I will post clearer pics from my camera a bit later but in the interim, here are a couple pics snapped from my iPhone. I wore a vintage Celine dress. Almost everything I buy, I alter. I'm quite particular about the fit of things, so I prefer to buy a size bigger and then adjust it accordingly. This dress was a 38 (I usually wear 36) but I tucked it in on the sides and the top and it now fits like a glove. Classic tailoring of Celine will never go wrong. I love this dress for the details, like the boning down the corset and the pink underlay beneath the grey.

We had a classy graduation lunch to celebrate. Dress paired with Kurt Geiger pumps, Tom Ford sunnies and Chanel purse. My sister was wearing my Balenciaga dress and some Anne Klein bow pumps. Please join me in congratulating my beautiful sister in her milestone accomplishment.

Zara-licious

photo (2)photo (1)photo

Continuing on my Zara splurge from last week, these are some wicked new duds I purchased online for £39. A little Acne / Isabel Marant-ish, no? You know I don't like posting iPhone photos but this is just how much I love you. You needed to see these bad boys for yourself and hopefully go out and cop a pair (attempt at being gangster = check!). Paired with a Jill Sander tank, Stella McCartney shoes, and a necklace from a Sardinian street market.

P.S. Pics taken in my somewhat refurbished bedroom! All things are on hold at the mo, because of the sad budgetary constraints, but I'll show you a few pics of the shelving unit in the next couple days! Holla atcha gurl. (check!)

What I'm wearing today. I wore almost the exact same outfit yesterday but white shorts and a white tee sans wedges. Overly creative, did I hear you say? With my mind (& my money) set on on my nuptials, going forward will be a hefty task of making use of what I already own and lots of Zara shopping, i.e. this jacket. Stopped a girl in La Fayette wearing it and quickly found out from her broken english and my broken french that its from Zara and difficult to find. BUT NO FEAT IS TOO GREAT! All behold, the bargain hunter that is Lisa!! Found it, bought it, et voila! Perfect capetto to throw over a dress, shorts, peg legs, skirts...you name it. Adds that I'm cool, but not too cool look, yaaaa know? Paired with some old old jean shorts that I think I cut from a pair of jeans, Elizabeth and James tee, Stella McCartney wedges, Acne belt, earrings from a Sardinian beach, Tom Ford sunnies.

Easy peasy, if I can do it, you can too.

iPhone clippet from TO

As my resident photographer, aka Mass, he's not obliged to follow me around everywhere :P Therefore, one must find alternative methods to capturing their blog photos. Bring on...the mirror. I was in Toronto this time around on my own as Mass has been ridiculously busy with work (I barely have had more then 2 dinners with him in the last month!) so I made do at my parents place.

photo (1)

Quick shot of the hair! I think it's TO water, but my hair always has more volume there. If it looked like this 24/7, I wouldn't have gotten a perm yesterday! (photos to follow...)

Wearing heels is always so much easier at home. In / out of cars, no walking to tubes, then walking to a bus, then hopping in a cab because your feet hurt too much. I also wore these amazingly stylish pants that were my mom's in the 70's! My mom had a serious walk down memory lane when she saw me in them. She proceeded to find about a dozen other outfits for me in a matching silk blazer and shorts / skirts / trousers. Ahhhh the 70's. Paired with an Equipment silk shirt, Helmut Lang blazer, Kurt Geiger pumps, BCBG necklace

Long weekend here in the UK! Hope everyone's enjoying it. I'll be prepping the house / finishing up work in anticipation for my bf to come next week. What are you up to?

Angels

Before I show you the photos from our UAE trip, I wanted to quickly show you what I wore yesterday evening via Instagram.

Excuse the mess behind, we're still waiting on pieces for our bedroom! But here's a glimpse.

Mass is away out of town for the weekend so I rampaged his closet for a sweater (because its still winterly cold out there!) and went out to meet some friends for dinner at Bocca di Lupo. What was more exciting was what we did afterwards! I always try to convince Mass to go with me to a gentlemen's club but for whatever reason, he never agrees. Of course that didn't stop me from persuading two other contenders to pop my London strip club cherry experience! We went to Angels, the Soho branch of Stringfellow's, and admittedly it was a lot more upscale than I imagined! True, it was probably catered to a city crowd and was less seedy than say, the Griffin, but nevertheless, I enjoyed myself! The girls are very friendly, especially to the only girl there that wasn't working ;)

white in winter part 2

Apologies for the slight delay in this post. Like I said 2 days ago, I love white in winter. Whoever created the rule of no white after labour day was, in my opinion, a fool.

Over a weekend of furniture shopping, Mass and I stopped into a little nook in the London Bridge area where he was originally looking for a flat.

Perfect shopping outfit: flat boots, long coat, and a scarf to keep warm while walking over the tower bridge.

Also wanted to show you the incredibly awesome iPhone case my bf got me for Christmas. It adds about 5 pounds to my bag, but totally worth it.

Tartufo would like to introduce you to my new shoes. They're incredibly high but not so much because whenevers theres platform we don't count that height in the overall distance away from the floor...right? Jo and I debated over these and another pair of shoes for an hour at Theory in the Meatpacking District and eventually was sold by the associate giving us 25% off (score!).

Still have many more photos from TO and NYC to show you but in the meantime this is Saturday. We went to a dinner party organised by my friend Jenn at St.Johns. We ate an entire pig head to toe, yum. Followed by drinks in Farringdon. I missed yoga the next morning :(

Okay, off to do work...I'm about an hour and a half late in starting my day!

Mom

DSC_1414

I loved what my mom was wearing when we went out for dim sum! She definitely has her own style. She has about 30 leather jackets at least and many of them are one-offs from Danier (her absolute favourite brand). She still dresses up for the plane, something I am hugely advocating to bring back!

SATURDAY

DSC_1402
DSC_1398

I bought this scarf Saturday and have been wearing it everyday since. It is the softest cashmere I have ever worn. I wish I could just wrap my body in this all day everyday. Johnstons has been a coveted favourite brand of mine for awhile but I haven't had a chance to purchase one of their luxurious but totally worth it wraps until now. Be sure to expect this on me everyday until winter ends.

Photos taken at dinner at Dorsia. We seem to have done one better than Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. Food was average (well slightly below average after I found a piece of plastic in my fish) but my guess is they're still fine tuning the kitchen and focusing more on the night club aspect.

The lack of updating has been mainly due to the insane bout of influenza I caught last week refraining me to my bed (and my flat) for 4 straight days. I only got the energy to half get up on Friday. And of course, it was an Indian summer last week in London.

Anyway, here are a few photo ops before the storm hit. Lately, simpler has been better.

Now time to play catch up with this painfully debilitating cough.

Continuing from yesterday. Jil Sander customer service is the shittiest I have ever encountered in a boutique. If it wasn't impossible to find these items elsewhere I would've protested against it by not giving any of them commission.

Unfortunately the s/s '11 was remarkable. Jil Sander trousers and sleeveless top, COS shirt, Louboutin shoes

Weather has been so good in London the past few days (praying, hoping that this isn't the last of it) so what better opportunity to break out the white linen suit. I do not know where I was before this suit, so classic!

A few quickies from Friday before dinner and after work. Is anyone as obsessed as I am with finding the perfect electric blue trousers? I originally bought these online and they were like clown pants on me but I took it to my tailor and altered it to a three quarter/ankle length...and to be honest, I am STILL on the hunt. They grew on me during the day but I can't say I'm ultimately satisfied. Back to the rat races...

Aside: I think it's pretty darn nerdy that Mass and I are currently lying in bed...and blogging.

I have a new found appreciation for all black (or similar). I think I may just continue wearing versions of it straight through summer (or our maximum of 20 degrees summer).

Next week I start a new position (until September) which means I will continue to be on the hunt for corporate wear. Thank you to the girls at FF for the beautiful earrings! (which you will all see here shortly ;)) I am a firm believer of tasteful corporate wear. And though it is not strictly office appropriate (especially in the firms I work at), I LOVE a good tweed (think Coco) skirt suit. Aside from Chanel, does anyone know where would be a good place to hunt?

Long weekend starts tomorrow!
