Wedding Reception tasting

DSCF1016

Standing in the parking lot of our wedding venue. Spent the afternoon there on a glorious Mediterranean summer afternoon tasting our potential wedding menu. Still needs some work in my opinion, but that just means I get to go back and eat more. Score.

DSCF1018

Idiot me forgot her bathing suit in London and couldn't take advantage of the amazing pool. Wore a copy YSL shirt from a market, some old cut off shorts, Acne belt, Tom Ford sunnies, Calvin Klein bra, and Isabel Marant shoes. Honestly, cannot wait to go back.

Topshop Dress

S0480994 S0460991

This is, by far, my favourite dress this summer. I originally went into Topshop wanting to buy the neon green version but it was sold out in my size so I opted for the alternative neon pink. It has been scorching hot this summer in some parts of the world (obvi not London) and this bad boy has proved worthy of the heat, especially if you're like me and hate your clothes sticking to your body when you sweat. Yum. I tried to find it online for you but it seems to be sold out. When I went home to Toronto though, in June, I found tons of them at the Topshop in Yorkdale. Fingers crossed its now on sale! Although at a RRP of £40 it's not too shabby.

These photos were taken on another wedding planning trip in Florence. We were on our way to dinner and stopped by the Duomo to take some pics. We're trying to test out as many good eats as we can so hopefully our guests will have lots to choose from during their stay!

S0410986

Paired this dress with some Isabel Marant shoes (bought on sale for 70% off! Bargain hunter strikes again!), a Balenciaga bag, and various bits of gold jewellery.

As an aside, how's everyone enjoying the Olympics? I'm heading there today for my first event: diving. I have 3 in total and hope to see Usain Bolt in action! Admittedly, it is quite cool having the games on in the city you're living in.

Steph's Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Chung

DSC_0353

The day started out early at 4am with hair and make up. Everyone gathered at my uncle's house in preparation for the Chinese tea ceremony and the door games.

DSC_0311

Before the groom is allowed to come into the house, close friends and family of the bride play door games where the groom and his groomsmen have to pay to get through the door. Generally the tradition is because the girls do not want their friend to be given away easily so the harder the games, the better. Here, my dad and uncle look on as I conduct one of the games. The boys were extremely good sports.

Success!

Reception began and ended with tons of dancing. The dance floor was always packed.

Seriously hilarious photo. This girl on my cousin's other side was really gunning for the bouquet.

DSC_0448

Another big family photo sans bride and groom. Our family had so much fun. We sang, danced, drank lots and took tons of photos. We are freaking awesome.

Finally caught a photo with the bride.

What a fabulous wedding. Seriously one of the best I have ever been to.

Montreal Summer

DSC_0289

At the height of Montreal summer, Mass and I took out first stroll around the city stopping at usual tourist attractions i.e. Old town and eating at overpriced restaurants. He did, however, find the best Casa del Habano where you can still smoke indoors. I'll let him get into the finer details on his blog (when and if he ever posts again, heh).

DSC_0290DSC_0283

Think I've mentioned previously that Mass is a self proclaimed caffeine addict / expert. Tim Hortons receives his seal of approval (he promises it's not only to satisfy my Canadian heritage *rolls eyes*).

DSC_0295

After our little tour, we headed to my Uncle's house for a big family BBQ on the eve of my cousin's wedding. I literally become a little kid when I'm with my family and argue endlessly over word semantics in Scattergories (which is the best game, ever). Mass was a bit scared. The entire day required a semi-breathable outfit as it was reaching 30's in the city. Wore an Artizia tank, some palazzo pants from mom that are probably older than I am, Kenneth Jay Lane earrings, Tom Ford sunnies and Giuseppe Zanotti flats.

Off to enjoy the English summer which finally decided to make an appearance yesterday and hopefully for the rest of this week!

Steph's Bridal Shower

DSC_0267

My cousin, Steph, was a terribly good sport with everything we put her through over the weekend. From wearing bustiers to stuffing marshmallows, she was the most willing bride I've ever seen!

DSC_0271

Steph and my sister, wearing Zara shoes that I have in blue! She was a trooper and wore them out to a club for their first outing. I barely could walk after 1/2 an hour in mine. They're definitely not the most comfortable but for £29.99, completely worth the value.

DSC_0274

Homemade spread (including the cake pops!) by the MOHs. I'm not a baker, but I sure was impressed.

Steph's bachelorette

Surprisingly, a lot of fun at a burlesque class in Montreal. More to come from Montreal tomorrow.

Congratulations, Emily

DSC_0179

As mentioned in an earlier post...my baby sister graduated University! We're so proud of her :*). Wore a vintage Celine dress for the occasion.

DSC_0198DSC_0184DSC_0212DSC_0218

For those who graduated this year...I know you're all probably a bit scared but you are more than prepared to take on everything life has to offer. I remember when I received my first rejection to an articling position I interviewed for back in 2010, my dad said to me: I know you're disappointed, but at your age, a little set back is not a bad thing. Some disappointments are actually good for us, it may open up other avenues that lead us somewhere better. Just be strong, and accept what life has given you so far and move forward. If all is not working out, there is always a place called home that you can count on and feel welcome.

Congratulations, Graduates of 2012.

Bridal Shower & Father's Day

DSC_0057

It was my gf's bridal shower a few weekends back and her mom held it at Oliver & Bonacini at Bayview Village. They recently did a renovation so they have this perfect sized room for events. It was such a treat to see Denise and her mom together hosting a shower for her mom's friends and family. Above is a photo of Denise and the bridesmaids. I'm so excited for Denise's wedding in August!

DSC_0108

That same night was father's day so we took my dad to Lee's Garden in Chinatown, a restaurant my dad has been going to since he was a teenager, living down the street and going to high school at Harbord. It's crazy how the same waiter still recognises my dad! The queue is pretty ridiculous for a chinese restaurant but still really tasty; I recommend a visit if you're in the Toronto area!

My sister and I. I was wearing a Pucci dress all day. Perfect breathable dress for a hot day and air conditioning!

En route to Montreal

Currently on the train going to Montreal for my cousin's wedding this long weekend. It's actually my first time on via rail! Really enjoying the complimentary wifi...

photo (2)

My cousin, Steph, and her fiance, Adrian, will be married this Sunday in a beautiful Chinese inspired wedding. We're doing the whole works, tea ceremony, door games, dragon dance...it's going to be lots of fun! Not to mention the entire family will be altogether, a rarity these days! The above photo albums are the engagement photos they took in Guang Zhou. I absolutely adore some of the empress like costumes Steph got to wear in her 8 costume changes over 5 full days!

photo (4)

Spent a lot of time catching up with my sis over the past 2 weeks. I love spending time with her; she's my bestie (am I too old to be using that word?). We had to concrete our relationship by purchasing another string bracelet to add to the collection. On sale for $9 at Holts people. Cha ching.

photo (3)

Finally...I must send some associated love to my future hubby's country. This Italian jersey was bought by my gf, Jen, for me when she went to the Euro Cup in 2008 long before I ever knew I would be marrying one of their own :). Forza Italia! or in Chinese, ga yau E-da-leee!!!

iPhone Snapped

I'm in Toronto! Got here last week and it has been a whirlwind of events ever since. I'm here to attend several bridal events (for my beautiful cousin and gf) and a wedding. It has been ridiculously hot the last couple days with temps hitting 43 degrees with humidity! Welcome change to London.

photo

It was my baby sister's convocation a couple days ago and we all couldn't be more proud. I will post clearer pics from my camera a bit later but in the interim, here are a couple pics snapped from my iPhone. I wore a vintage Celine dress. Almost everything I buy, I alter. I'm quite particular about the fit of things, so I prefer to buy a size bigger and then adjust it accordingly. This dress was a 38 (I usually wear 36) but I tucked it in on the sides and the top and it now fits like a glove. Classic tailoring of Celine will never go wrong. I love this dress for the details, like the boning down the corset and the pink underlay beneath the grey.

photo (1)

We had a classy graduation lunch to celebrate. Dress paired with Kurt Geiger pumps, Tom Ford sunnies and Chanel purse. My sister was wearing my Balenciaga dress and some Anne Klein bow pumps. Please join me in congratulating my beautiful sister in her milestone accomplishment.

Elin Kling for Marciano

I have often mentioned who my ultimate style icon is. Ranges from ADR to Caroline Issa (whom I saw at the Wolesley a couple weeks ago!). Without a doubt though, my favourite blogger / stylist is Elin Kling. She's from Sweden, owns her own fashion mag, clothing line, been on Dancing with the Stars, was the first blogger to collaborate with H&M, and the list goes on. She just announced her newest collaboration with Guess by Marciano. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Guess, nothing in there really stands out to me in either quality or appearance. However, because Elin will be doing a line, I will definitely go in and take a look.

That's the blogger impact.

Shoe shelves

For those of you not living in GB, this weekend marks the 60th anniversary of the Queen's throne. The practical effect of this monumental occasion is the country gets two additional days off to their weekend. Many people have left London for sunnier pastures but the people who remain will be partying (in the rain) all weekend to Pimms, festivals of all kind including food and music and the Union Jack. For the rest of us...it is the MOST depressing time of the year. Penultimate weekend of the potential last exams ever in our lives, we have 3 more to write in this neverending love affair with becoming a lawyer. When I'm not at the library, I'm at home...waiting for the opportunity to wear these again...

DSC_0022

I actually don't have many pairs of shoes (as I thought I did), so we used the shelf as a pseudo book case as well.

DSC_0021DSC_0016

Far away from the bottom so guests cannot judge our book selection...

DSC_0030

I had a lot of stuff I didn't want to put on display but needed a place for, i.e. flip flops / guest slippers / belts etc. so I used my favourite British brand to store them. They make the best picnic baskets ever and lucky for us, they sell these baskets separately too. We used a mixture of both their champagne cases (the Tiffany blue ones) for our hats and scarves and the baskets for other odd bits and ends. We even use their biggest baskets for our laundry.

So...that's it! What do you think?
